Kusy Receives Masters

Lauren Kusy, a 2003 graduate of Abington Heights High School, received her master of science degree in speech-language pathology on May 16 from Ithaca College.
Kusy received the Emily Powell Award as the most outstanding graduate clinician in Ithaca’s program.
A graduate student representative for speech-language pathology program and a graduate scholarship/assistantship recipient, Kusy graduated magna cum laude in speech-language pathology in 2009.
She has accepted a position as a speech-language pathologist for Select Medical Corp. in an acute-care specialty hospital in Rochelle Park, N.J., and a skilled nursing facility in Rockleigh, N.J.
Kusy also attended Ithaca College as an undergraduate and was awarded the All-American Collegiate Scholar in 2004 for outstanding achievements in speech pathology and for contributions as a member of the varsity basketball team.   
In 2007, she was inducted into the Pi Lambda Theta International Honor Society and graduated cum laude in speech pathology.   
Kusy was chosen as the presenter at the 2008 graduate colloquium for “Bi-cultural and Bi-lingual Perspectives in Child Interviewing Practices.” At Ithaca College, Kusy assisted in research to determine the role of the speech-language pathologist in the courtroom as it applies to examining child testimony. She was also was chosen as the presenter at the 2008 Society for Cross Cultural Research Conference in New Orleans, La.
At AHHS, she started on the Lady Comets’ varsity basketball team for three years.
She is the daughter of Tom and Linda Kusy, Clarks Summit.
