Demystifying the Dollar
Money can’t really talk, but Chuck Parry can talk about it and he wants to share his knowledge with anyone who wishes to listen.
Parry, a financial adviser with Edward Jones Investments, 406 S. State St., Clarks Summit, will host a free coffee club on Wednesday, Feb. 12, beginning at 9 a.m. at the Glenburn Grill, 1144 Lackawanna Trail.
Parry explained that the coffee club is a way to keep people informed about what’s happening in the stock market as well as an opportunity for networking.
“We try to give people a little bit of education and try to pick an investment product and explain how it works,” he said. “We might also tell people if there’s a time when they should be careful with some kind of product, too. For example, in the past year, we’ve seen interest rates rise and so we talked about that over the last few coffee clubs; that interest rates are rising so you need to be careful where you’re keeping money in bonds at this time.”
Parry admitted that some coffee club participants are novices, while others are seasoned experts and that there is a place for everyone.
“We try to take the middle ground and try to explain it by not getting too complicated,” he said. “We explain it in layman’s language so people understand how things work.”
“A big part of this is that there’s only so much we can do at appointments in the office; the coffee club gives us another outlet to educate people a little bit better,” he added. “If nothing else, it helps build the trust relationship with our clients; we encourage our clients to bring their friends, too.”
Participants in the coffee club will also get the chance to ask Parry whatever questions they might have on investing and the stock market. Participation is free and not limited just to clients of Edward Jones Investments. To reserve a seat, call Jennifer Marshall at 570-585-8979 by Friday,
