Cub Scout Registrations
Cub Scout registrations will take place on the following dates:

Our Lady of the Abingtons church, 700 W. Main St., Dalton, is hosting its 45th annual Fall Festival on Saturday, Sept. 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 8, from 11:30 to 6 p.m.
Saturday evening events will feature a pig roast as well as music by The Poets from 7:30-11 p.m.
Sunday events include a chicken barbecue, music by The Quietmen from 1-4 p.m., Irish dancers, children's games, hayrides and an antique car cruise.

The Newton-Ransom Volunteer Fire Co., 1890 Newton-Ransom Blvd., will host a breakfast buffet on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 8 a.m. to noon. Pancakes, sausage, bacon, home fries, eggs, fruit, sweets and beverages will be available. A bake sale will also take place during the buffet. All proceeds will benefit the Newton-Ransom Volunteer Fire Co.
Civic League Dinner
The Abington Heights Civic League will host its September dinner at Formosa Restaurant, 727 S. State St., Clarks Summit, on Monday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. Call 578-3101 for more information.
Book Club Meeting
The Mysteries and Detectives Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. at the Abington Community Library, 1200 W. Grove St., Clarks Summit. The selection for this month is "The Cater Street Hangman" by Anne Perry. The author for October will be Ellis Peters.
Pledge of Allegiance
The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will host a community Pledge of Allegiance on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at 9:30 a.m. The ceremony will honor those who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children, 537 Venard Road, Clarks Summit, will host a craft show on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Admission is free and grilled foods as well as a variety of refreshments will be available as well as a 50/50 raffle and a Scholastic Book Fair. The first 100 patrons to enter will recieve a free giveaway. Call 585-7035 for booth registration.
Wally Gordon Community Chorus
The Wally Gordon Community Chorus will begin its fall rehearsal season on Tuesday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit. There is audition required and members do not have to be able to read music. The membership fee for the fall semester is $20. The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will host a series of basketball clinics with Coach Herman Little.
The first clinic, for children ages 6-9, will be held for six weeks on Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-5 p.m. beginning Tuesday, Sept. 17. The second clinic, for children in grades four through six, will be held on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-5 p.m. for six weeks beginning Thursday, Sept. 19.

Sign Language Classes
The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children, 537 Venard Road, Clarks Summit, will host American Sign Language (ASL) 1 and 2 classes every Thursday from Sept. 19 through Oct. 24, from 7-9 p.m. Course fee is $65 and due when registration is submitted.
