LT Homecoming Hunt
Lackawanna Trail High School, 28 Tunnel Hill Road, Factoryville, will host its annual "Homecoming Fun Run and Scavenger Hunt" on Thursday, Oct. 17, beginning at 6 p.m., with the school's annual bonfire beginning at 7 p.m. Cost for the scavenger hunt and run is $15; $6 for the scavenger hunt only. AH Homecoming Bonfire
The Abington Heights annual homecoming bonfire will take place at the high school, 222 Noble Road, Clarks Summit, on Friday, Oct. 18, from 6-8 p.m. Fall athletic teams will be introduced around 7 p.m. The marching band, cheerleaders and local student bands will provide entertainment. Pork and Sauerkraut Dinner
The Dalton United Methodist Church, 125 Turnpike Road, will host a pork and sauerkraut dinner on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Take-outs will be available beginning at 4 p.m. Tickets are $9; $4.50 for children ages 4-10. Call Margaret at 570-587-3755 for more information.
The Arcadia Chorale (formerly the Robert Dale Chorale) will present "Echoes of Arcadia" on Saturday, Oct. 19, at St. Luke's Episcopal Church, 232 Wyoming Avenue, Scranton, at 8 p.m., and on Sunday, Oct. 20, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 35 S. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, at 3 p.m. Tickets are $15; $12 for seniors and $7 for students. Children age 12 and younger will be admitted for free when accompanied by a parent.
The program will include works by Eric Whitacre, Claudio Monteverdi, Stephen Chatman and Edward Elgar and will feature John Rutter's Birthday Madrigals and Benjamin Britten's Hymn to St. Cecilia.

The Lake Winola Fire Co. and ladies auxiliary will host a breakfast buffet on Sunday, Oct. 20, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the fire hall, located on Route 307. Menu consists of blueberry pancakes, regular pancakes, eggs to order, sausage, bacon, fresh potato home fries, fresh fruit and beverages. Tickets are $8, $4 for children. The ladies auxiliary to Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7069, will host a spaghetti and meatball dinner on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4-8 p.m. at the post home, 402 Winola Road, Clarks Summit. Food Donations Needed
Local Pizza Huts are currently collecting donated, non-perishable canned foods for the Bread Basket of Northeastern Pennsylvania through Saturday, Nov. 30. Anyone who makes a $10 donation will receive an order of breadsticks with the purchase of a pizza. Local Pizza Hut locations include: 900 S. State St., Clarks Summit; 500 Scranton/Carbondale Highway, Archbald; and 331 S. Blakely St., Dunmore.
The Oppenheim Family Children's Center at Keystone College is accepting new enrollees. Located on Keystone's campus in La Plume, the program offers several preschool program options for children three to five years old. Children must be three years old by Sept. 1 to participate. Preschoolers will receive developmentally appropriate educational services provided by qualified early-childhood professionals. The center also serves as a training site for students majoring in education and related fields at Keystone College.
Licensed and inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, the center is accredited by the National Academy of Early Childhood Programs and has earned a "Four-Star" rating by the Office of Child Development and Early Learning Quality Rating System. This designation recognizes child care facilities which exceed state requirements.
