A Christmas Carol
The First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School St., will present Tim Coombs' interpretation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" on Sunday, Nov. 30, at 7 p.m. There is no admission charge for the event but a free-will offering will be taken. Cookie Walk
The J.W. Hall Memorial Auxiliary to the Clarks Summit Fire Co. will present its sixth annual holiday cookie walk on Saturday, Dec. 8, at the Clarks Summit Fire Co., 321 Bedford St. From 10 a.m. to noon, people can choose their own cookies for $8 per pound. In past years, up to 82 varieties of cookies have been available. Proceeds from the event will help provide support and equipment for the fire company.
Christmas Concert
The Wally Gordon Community Chorus will present its annual Christmas concert on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway. This year's theme will be "Joy." The concert is free to the public but a free-will offering will be collected.
Meeting Notice
The Mysteries and Detectives Book Club will meet on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m. at the Abington Community Library, 1200 W. Grove St. The book selection for December is "The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency" by Alexander McCall Smith.
Candy Sale
Participants in the Appalachia Service Project, which sends students to the Appalachia region to help repair homes, are holding a candy sale to help defray costs of their trip. Available candy varieties include: peppermint bark, peanut clusters, raisin clusters and mixed clusters in both dark and milk chocolate varieties. Candy cost is $7 per pound.
