The Waverly Community Church, 101 Carbondale Road, will host its fourth annual patriotic concert on Friday, June 28, at 7 p.m. at Lackawanna State Park, Route 407, Benton. The ninth annual Calli Memorial Car Show for Kids with Cancer will be held on Sunday, June 30, at the Fleetville Fire Co. Grounds, Route 407, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be food, live entertainment, refreshments, games, door prizes and raffles. Vendor spots are free and available by calling 563-2029.
The show is in memory of Calli Irene Walter and will benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society as well as local children with serious and life-threatening illnesses. Pre-registration for cars is $8; registration the day of the show is $10. Admission to the show is free, but donations are accepted.

The Fleetville Volunteer Fire Co. will host a take out-only chicken barbecue at the fire house, located on Route 407, on Sunday, June 30, from noon to 1:30 p.m. Barbecues are $6. Call 945-3139 for orders.
The Rotary Club of the Abingtons will host its annual fireworks display on Wednesday, July 3, at the Abington Heights Middle School, 1555 Newton-Ransom Blvd. Rain date is Thursday, July 4. Food, beverages and other items will be available for purchase. The fireworks display will begin at dusk. Display viewers are asked to use the lots provided and bring seating. There is a $5 parking fee.
Vacation Bible School
A rainforest-themed vacation Bible school will be held from Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12, at the Clarks Green United Methodist Church, 119 Glenburn Road. Sessions will begin at 9:30 a.m. Students will learn about God's creation through green-themed crafts, music, stories and science. Call the church office at 586-8946 to register.
Vacation Bible School
The Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Newton, will host a Vacation Bible School from Monday, July 8, to Friday, July 12, from 5:30-8 p.m. Children ages 4-12 are welcome. A light supper will be served at 5:30, followed by classroom instruction, crafts, music and games. Book Club Meeting
The Mysteries and Detectives Book Club will meet on Tuesday July 9, at 7 p.m. at the Abington Community Library, 1200 W. Grove St. The selection for July is "Set in Darkness" by Ian Rankin. The author for August will be Dashiell Hammett.
The Abington Farmer's Market for this year will be held on Northern Boulevard in Chinchilla at the former Rainbow Market location due to the closing of South Abington Park this summer. The market will open on Saturday, July 13, and will be held every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Saturday, Oct. 26.
Youth Football Camp
The Lackawanna Trail Booster Club will host its fifth annual Lion Cub Football Camp on Monday, July 15, and Tuesday, July 16, from 5:30-8 p.m., for students ages 6-14. Each student will receive position-specific instruction from the coaching staff and players of the Lackawanna Trail High School football team in a non-contact setting. Players will be grouped according to their age and their individual offensive and defensive positions. Special teams instruction will also be covered. All students will receive coaching on the fundamentals of blocking and tackling, how to get into a solid football stance, how to use their "power angles," stretching, agility, proper form running technique, and teamwork. The importance of "Lion Pride" throughout the entire Lackawanna Trail Football family will also be emphasized.
