Holiday Tree Lighting
Factoryville Borough will host its annual tree lighting on Saturday, Dec. 7, at the Factoryville Borough Building, 161 College Ave., beginning at 4:30 p.m. Santa Claus will arrive at 5 p.m. The community will gather to decorate the tree in front of the borough building with the help of the Boy Scouts of America. Breakfast With Santa
The Newton-Ransom Volunteer Fire Co., 1890 Newton-Ransom Blvd., will host a "Christmas with Santa" breakfast buffet on Sunday, Dec. 8, from 8 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $8; $4 for children younger than 12.
The Scranton School for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Children will host "Signing Santa Claus" at the Abington Community Library, 1200 W. Grove St., Clarks Summit, on Monday, Dec. 9, from 6-7 p.m. Children will enjoy a story read by Santa Claus in American Sign Language and voice interpreted in English. The event is free and open to the public thanks to the support and sponsorship of Starbucks of Clarks Summit and the Northeastern Pennsylvania Center for Independent Living. Children are welcome to attend whether they have a hearing loss or not.
Holiday Wrap Party
A gift-wrapping party for the "Be a Santa to a Senior" program will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 10, beginning at 10 a.m., at the Brooks Theater at Keystone College, LaPlume. Financial Aid Night
The Abington Heights High School guidance department will host a financial aid night for parents of senior students on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 6:30-8 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 222 Noble Road.
