Baptist Bible College and Seminary, 538 Venard Road, South Abington Twp., will host its annual winter concert on Friday, Dec. 13, at 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Dec. 14, at 3 p.m. and at 8 p.m. in the Murphy Memorial Library. The concerts will feature student musical groups, including the Concert Chorale and Chamber Singers, as well as solo and other performances by music students and faculty. A jazz ensemble will also perform and the audience will be invited to sing Christmas carols. Tickets are $10, which includes the dessert reception one hour before each performance. A fundraiser for the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter will take place on Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Clarks Summit Fire Co. Hall, 321 Bedford St., from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items for collection include blankets, litter, dry and canned pet food, rabbit and guinea pig food, paper towels, garbage bags, brooms, buckets, bleach, aluminum cans and monetary donations.
The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will host its annual family Christmas party and breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 14, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Comm auditorium. Tickets are $10; children younger than one year old will be admitted for free. The day's events will include a homemade pancake breakfast, games, crafts and a visit from Santa Claus. The Dalton United Methodist Church, 125 S. Turnpike Road, will host a spaghetti dinner to benefit the Benson and Hedrick families on Saturday, Dec. 14. Eat-in dinners will be served from 4-6 p.m., take-outs will be served from 3:30-6 p.m. Tickets are $10; $6 for children ages 3-11 and children younger than 3 will be admitted for free. The Clarks Summit Fire Co. No. 1 will host an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet on Sunday, Dec. 15, from 8 a.m. to noon. Tickets are $8; $5 for children younger than 10. The menu will include biscuits, chiped beef, homefried potatoes, scrambled eggs, pancakes, French toast, bacon, sausage, assorted bagels and muffins, Danish pastry, waffles, and beverages.
The South Abington Lions Club and the Chinchilla Hose Company will host a Santa party for on Sunday, Dec. 15, beginning at 1 p.m., at the fire hall, 104 Shady Lane Road. The event will feature a performance by Damian the Magician at 1:30 p.m. Refreshments and presents will also be handed out.
Music students at Abington Heights Middle School, 1555 Newton-Ransom Blvd., will perform a series of free concerts beginning at 7:30 p.m. on the following dates in December:
- Thursday, Dec. 12: Fifth-grade band;
- Wednesday, Dec. 18: Seventh-grade chorus;
- Thursday, Dec. 19: Eighth-grade chorus.
