Workout for St. Jude

Free Immunizations Clinic
The Regional Hospital of Scranton is holding a free immunizations clinic on Monday, April 15, from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway. An adult must accompany all children and must have copies of all other immunization records. Each clinic is limited to 30 children. Call 348-7253 for more information.
The Abington Senior Community Center, 1151 Winola Road, will host a bus trip on Tuesday, April 16, to Sight and Sound Theaters in Lancaster to see "Noah: The Musical." The Fleetville Volunteer Fire Co. will have an all-you-can-eat spaghetti or rigatoni dinner with meatballs, salad, beverage and dessert on Saturday, April 20, at the fire house, located on Route 407, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Tickets are $7.50 for presales and $8 at the door. The Pennsylvania Women's Press Association will offer its annual Teresa Spatara Scholarship of $1,500 to a print journalism major working toward a newspaper career. Both male and female collegians may apply. Applicants should be Pennsylvania residents at a Pennsylvania college or university and classified as a junior, senior or graduate level student for the fall of 2012.

The association will select the winner on the basis of proven journalistic ability, dedication to journalism, plans to work at a newspaper and general merit. The presentation of the scholarship will be part of the association's annual awards luncheon on Saturday, May 18 in Harrisburg.

Serving Seniors is in need of volunteers for its Ombudsman (Resident Rights' Advocate) Program. Volunteer ombudsmen are community neighbors who are specially trained to help clarify responsibilities and the rights of consumers in long-term living facilities.Applicants need to be available for a few hours a month, older than age 18 and concerned about the rights of concerned about the rights of nursing home and assisted living/personal care home residents.
