The Waverly Community House, 1115 N. Abington Road, will offer basketball clinics with coach Herman Little this fall. The first clinic, for children ages 6-9, will be held for six weeks on Tuesdays, beginning Sept. 9, from 3:30-5 p.m. The second clinic, for children in grades four through six, will be held for six weeks on Thursdays, beginning Sept. 11, from 3:30-5 p.m. The registration fee for either clinic is $60 per participant or $12 per class. The Thomas G. Cupillari ’60 Astronomical Observatory, located in Fleetville, will begin its fall program on Wednesday, Sept. 10, at 7:30 p.m. and will continue each Wednesday and Friday evening through Friday, Nov. 14.
The astronomical programs will feature an illustrated lecture and weather-permitted observation through telescopes. The main objects planned for observation include the Moon; the planets Mercury, Mars, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto; and various double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies.
Open to the public and free of charge, the fall sessions at the observatory will be held regardless of sky conditions and will be cancelled only by the threat of severe weather.

Keystone College will offer two ServSafe certification courses on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and Tuesday, Nov. 18, in the President’s Dining Room at the Hibbard Campus Center at the college’s LaPlume campus.
The training will cover topics involving food-borne illnesses and health risks that commercial food service establishments must be aware of in order to provide safe food for customers. The in-class component of the program will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue to approximately 5:30 p.m., depending upon completion of an exam. Participants are expected to review the ServSafe textbook for a minimum of 7.5 hours prior to the scheduled course. Cost of the program is $160 and includes a textbook, lunch and a one-hour U.S. Department of Agriculture presentation.
