Trash & Treasure Sale

French Toast Breakfast
The Chinchilla United Methodist Church, 411 Layton Road, will host an all-you-can-eat French toast breakfast on Saturday, May 10, from 8-11 a.m. The menu will include French toast, sausage, fruit cup, coffee, tea and orange juice. Tickets are $7; $5 for children. Children younger than 5 years old will be admitted for free.
Hillside Park, located at the intersection of Grove Street and Winola Road in South Abington Twp. will host a mentored youth trout fishing day on Saturday, May 10, from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., part of a statewide program.
To ensure that plenty of stocked trout is available to anglers for this event, Eston Wilson Lake will be closed to all fishing from noon on Friday, May 9, to 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 10, to allow for a fresh stocking of fish. The lake will reopen to the general public fishing after 7:30 p.m.
To participate, adult anglers, age 16 or older) much have a valid fishing license and a trout/salmon permit and be accompanied by a youth. Youth anglers must have a free Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission-issued permit or a voluntary youth fishing license, both of which are available at gonefishingpa.com.
Vineyards by the Viaduct
The Nicholson Volunteer Fire Co. will host Vineyards by the Viaduct on Saturday, May 10, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Nicholson Carnival Grounds. The event will feature more than 80 different kinds of wine as well as live entertainment by the Joe Kopicki Band with Retro Rocket. Tickets are $15 in advance or $25 at the gate, designated driver tickets are $5. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Nicholson Volunteer Fire Co. The ladies auxiliary of the Dalton Fire Co. will host bingo night on Monday, May 12, and Monday, May 19, at the fire hall, 109 S. Turnpike Road. Doors will open at 6 p.m. and games will begin at 6:45 p.m.

‘Barefoot in the Park’
The Actors Circle will present Neil Simon’s “Barefoot in the Park” from Thursday through Saturday, May 15-17, and Friday through Saturday, May 23-24, at 8 p.m., and Sundays, May 18-25, at 2 p.m. at the Providence Playhouse, 1256 Providence Road, Scranton. The second annual Rocco’s Gardens party will be held on Friday, May 16, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Tickets are $12.50 in advance and $15 the day of the event. Beer, wine, soda and appetizers as well as a basket raffle and live music will be held during this event for age 21 and older only. The Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Newton Twp., will hold its annual Dutch Auction on Friday, May 16. The evening will begin with a pot luck covered dish dinner at 6 p.m., auction to follow. Donations of gifts for the auction may be wrapped or unwrapped. The Catholic Choral Society of Scranton will host its annual spring concert on Friday, May 16, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Cathedral, 315 Wyoming Ave., Scranton. The guest performers for this concert will be the Honesdale High School Chamber Choir directed by Martha Curtis and accompanied by Tim Farrand.
A second performance will be presented on Sunday, May 18, at 7 p.m. at St. Ignatius Church, 339 North Maple St., Kingston, where the Dallas High School Chamber Choir directed by Cassie Palfey and accompanied by Emily Banta will perform.
