Community Dinner

The Waverly United Methodist Church, 105 Church St., will host a free community dinner on Friday, April 25, from 5-7 p.m. Organizers say that the dinner’s primary focus is to help the needy and is in conjunction with the church’s “Feed a Thousand” campaign for 2014. The dinner is supplemented by a grant from the Walmart Foundation as well as by Olive Garden and Texas Roadhouse. Music from the Michelle Triaca Music Studio will also be a part of the event. Book Sale

The Friends of the Abington Community Library will host their annual spring book sale on Saturday, April 26, from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway. The sale will feature used books, audio books, compact discs and DVDs. Buyers are asked to bring their own bags, if possible. Autism Walk/Run

The Parents Loving Children Through Autism Foundation (PLCTA) will host its annual Walk for Autism Awareness along with a 5K run on Saturday, April 26, at Nay Aug Park in Scranton. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., the run will begin at 8:30 a.m. near Hanlon’s Grove. The fee for the 5K run is $25. The Walk for Autism Awareness will begin at 11 a.m. at the Everhart Pavilion. Registration for the walk begins at 9:30 a.m. and registration is $20. A post-walk picnic featuring music, raffles, games and information booths will also be held. Healthy Kids Day

The Greater Scranton YMCA, 706 N. Blakely St., Dunmore, will host its annual Healthy Kids Day on Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event will include a kids run, extreme laser tag, a zip line, a petting zoo, face painting, a magician and more. Community Tribute

Friends, parents and former players of Abington Heights High School basketball coach Vince Bucciarelli will host a community tribute and reception on Saturday, May 3, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Glen Oak Country Club, 250 Oakford Road, Clarks Summit.
