Special Needs College Fair
Allied Services Integrated Health System will host a disability employment and college fair for students with special needs on Wednesday, March 12, in the community room at Allied Services, 475 Morgan Highway, Scranton. A morning session from 9-11 a.m. will be geared toward students and faculty members from area high schools while a second session addressing the concerns of parents of students with disabilities will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. According to organizers, the event will provide an opportunity for students with disabilities and their parents to meet with employers and admissions representatives from local colleges. Representatives from local agencies will also be on hand to share information on relevant transportation programs, Social Security benefits, vocational rehabilitation services and workplace accommodation technology.
The event is sponsored by the Lackawanna County Youth Council and Work Investment Board and will take place with the support of the Scranton School District and Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit 19. Call 570-348-1407 to register or for more information.

The Chinchilla United Methodist Church, 411 Layton Road, will host a demonstration entitled “Messiah in the Passover” on Sunday, March 16, beginning at 5 p.m. The demonstration will be conducted by Paul Cruz of Chosen People Ministries, who, organizers say, will explain the symbolic meanings of the various items of the Passover feast and highlight their relationship to the Last Supper, giving special emphasis on the redemptive significance of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion. Abington Road, will host its annual Women’s History Month luncheon on Friday, March 21, beginning at noon, at the Glen Oak Country Club, Oakford Road, Clarks Summit. This year’s luncheon is themed “Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and Commitment” and will feature guest speaker Elena Colombo, chief executive officer and creative director of Fire Features, a division of Colombo Construction.
