Adult Faith Formation
The Catholic Parishes of the Abingtons region will present "The Mystical Union of Christ and the Church," part of a Lenten adult faith formation program, on Sunday, Feb. 24, from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Gathering Room of Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Moderator Fr. Daniel J. Issing, C.S.C., Ph.D., an assistant professor of Theology at King's College, will discuss the Catholic Faith's understanding of the relationship of Jesus Christ and the church and present the reality of the church as a global culture. Artist Talk
The B&B Art Gallery, 222 Northern Blvd., South Abington Twp., will feature a presentation from Teresa Velardi on Sunday, Feb. 24, at 2 p.m. Velardi will discuss the Raku style of art and ceramic firing techniques. Call 585-2525 for more information.
Parent Training Series
As part of the Abington Heights School District's commitment to serve its students with disabilities, the special education department has announced its 2012-2013 spring parent training series schedule.
All trainings will be held at 6 p.m. in the second floor board room at the Administration Building, 200 E. Grove Street, Clarks Summit.

"Something's Afoot"
Baptist Bible College and Seminary, Venard Road, Clarks Summit, will present the musical mystery comedy "Something's Afoot," from Thursday, Feb. 28, through Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Phelps Student Center. Discounted tickets prices for students, alumni and senior citizens are available by calling the box office.
Softball Registration
The registration deadline is approaching for the 2013 Abington Area Girls Softball League (AAGSL) season. The league is open to all girls ages 5-17 who are interested in recreational softball. The goal of the league is to provide an instructional, fun environment to learn and play softball. Teams are divided by age level and all levels of experience are welcome. If you own a business or have a connection to a local business please consider a sponsorship for the Abington Area Girls Softball League. Both team and field sponsors are needed to support the girls as they have the invaluable experience of playing on a team. Shoes Needed
Abington Heights High School Students Against Destructive Decisions (SADD) will host an anti-tobacco campaign during the month of March. A display of gently-used shoes will be displayed in the high school and all shoes will be donated to the St. Francis Soup Kitchen for those in need. Call 585-5300 for more information.
Ham and Cabbage Dinner
The ladies auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 7069, 402 Winola Road, Clarks Summit, is hosting its annual ham and cabbage dinner on Sunday, March 17, from 2-6 p.m. Tickets are $8. Take-outs are available.
Nominate a Senior
The Salute to Senior Service program, sponsored by Home Instead, the franchisor of the Home Instead Senior Care network, is asking for nominations of adults age 65 and older who give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service to their favorite causes. Nominations for outstanding senior volunteers will be accepted through Sunday, March 31. State winners will be selected by popular vote at SalutetoSeniorService.com. Online voting will take place from Monday, April 15, to Tuesday, April 30. From those state winners, a panel of senior care experts will pick the national Salute to Senior Service honoree. Home Instead will donate $500 to each of the state winners' favorite nonprofit organizations and their stories will be posted on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame. In addition, $5,000 will be donated to the national winner's nonprofit charity of choice.
Senior care professionals and those who work at hospitals, senior care facilities and other places where seniors volunteer are encouraged to nominate older adults, as are are family caregivers and the adult children of aging parents. Older adults also may self-nominate.
