Holiday Concert

The Abington Heights High School music department will present "Holiday Favorites" on Friday, Dec. 14, at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium, 222 Noble Road, Clarks Summit. Tickets are $2 and may be purchased at the door.

Cookie Walk

Our Lady of the Snows/Church of St. Benedict will host their annual cookie walk on Saturday, Dec. 15, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Gathering Room of Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Three sizes of containers will be available for $7, $15 and $20. Call 586-1741 for more information.

Christmas Party

The Chinchilla Junior Firefighters and the South Abington Lions Club are sponsoring a children's Christmas party on Saturday, Dec. 15, beginning at 4 p.m. at the Chinchilla Hose Co., located on Shady Lane Road. Cookie Swap

Bella on the Boulevard, 1959 Newton-Ransom Blvd., is hosting a free cookie swap on Sunday, Dec. 16, at 4 p.m. Participants are asked to bring two dozen of their favorite holiday cookies as well as the recipes. If you do not have a cookie recipe, please bring a sample of and a recipe for your favorite holiday candy or treat. Snacks and refreshments will be available. Call 585-1234 for more information.

Holiday Food Drive

Bella on the Boulevard, 1959 Newton-Ransom Blvd., in conjunction with My Sister's Kitchen, the Excelsior Hose Co., the Germania Fire Co., the Pittston Italian Club, the Moosic Youth Center, Symmetry Studio and Café Italia is hosting a food drive until Friday, Dec. 21, for the Worship Center in Old Forge. Drop-off points for non-perishable goods are available at those businesses. Ashley Faraday is the chair of the food drive.

Call to Action

State rep. Kevin Haggerty will host a meeting on Saturday, Dec. 22, at 2 p.m. at his office at the Dunmore Community Center, 1414 Monroe Avenue, Dunmore, regarding changing animal cruelty laws in Pennsylvania. The meeting will discuss the creation of new laws that will strengthen current state laws against animal abuse. Call 342-2710 for more information.

Items Needed

The Griffin Pond Animal Shelter, 967 Griffin Pond Road, South Abington Twp., is requesting donations of the following items during the holiday season: blankets, sheets, towels, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, paper towels, dish soap, kitty litter, puppy chow, kitten food, dog food and gift cards.
